New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) proposes to purchase only e-vehicle and reuse renewable energy. NDMC Chairman Dharmendra said that civic body would stop purchasing petrol/diesel cars and acquire electric vehicle.

This was announced during the budget presentation for financial year 2022-23. NDMC would also convert the existing fleet to electric in a phased manner. NDMC has already introduced 60 e-charging stations and another 100 will be added in the year 2022.

The civic body is also planning to be deployed for green transportation modes for covering short distance and last-mile connectivity.

The civic body will work as a DISCOM in future and use 100 per cent renewable energy for consumption and supply. The govt body has already made its office a Green Palika with maximum green coverage.

The civic body claimed to have integrated 49 citizen-centric applications with the Single Sign-on portal. It also plans to add a chatbot on its website by the end of March. “We are also going to include Pay-Gov, the common payment portal, for all our services,” Dharmendra said.
