The National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Andhra Pradesh will establish a Common Research and Technology Department Hub (CRTDH). This hub will focus on renewable energy.

The hub is sponsored by the Department of scientific and industrial research and it will help micro and small enterprises to develop technological solutions for off-grid and on-grid energy systems. The hub would act as a nursery for start-ups also.

The infrastructure of the research facility will enable the enterprises to conduct testing of the products and technologies. The department of scientific and industrial research will offer Rs 5 crore to financially support the Hub. Whereas, NIT-AP on their part will contribute through land and building along with Rs 2.15 crore fund.

The project will be led by the department of electrical engineering in collaboration with other departments of the institute.

India has crossed the milestone of generating 100GW in renewable energy and transit to strong sustainable energy. This centre will be bridging the gap between academics and industries and helping them close the gap.
