PM Modi addresses a webinar for consultation towards effective implementation of Union Budget provisions in the power & renewable energy sector. Power sector professionals from DISCOMs, state nodal agencies, Ministry of Power & several power industry contributors attended the webinar. 

The Prime Minister quoted, “4GW solar capacity is installed through rooftop solar projects, 2.5 GW will be added soon. 40 GW solar power is aimed in the next one and half years through Rooftop Solar Projects.”

Emphasizing the PLI scheme, the Prime Minister recalled that high-efficiency solar PV modules are now part of the PLI scheme. Also, the government is committed to investing Rs.4,500 crores for the same. “We want to see our companies become global manufacturing champions, not just to fulfill local demands,” said the Prime Minister.

In the webinar Prime Minister also mentioned that the government is making efforts for improving the Ease of Doing Business in the sector. But government policies are actually creating chaos in the Industry. Promoting domestic manufacturers & Made in India’s mission can help in economic growth but the current trend is in skepticism. 

The Prime Minister also said that work is on to free the distribution sector of entry barriers and licensing for distribution and supply. Efforts are underway for prepaid smart meters, feeder separation, and system up-gradation, the Prime Minister informed.
