The Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) & Transport acknowledged the importance of rooftop solar for cutting down the cost of electricity consumption of MSMEs. About one-fifth of operations cost comes out of electricity usage.
In a virtual programme, Gadkari said, “I believe there is a strong business case for MSMEs to install rooftop solar and achieve significant savings to achieve the cost-competitiveness. I am confident that MSMEs will stand together in generating and consuming solar power using their rooftops.”
The minister observed that a significant amount of MSMEs is been paid for electricity bills. On average, they have to pay Rs.8 per unit, which is very costly. To reduce the operational cost of MSMEs he urges to use of rooftop solar.
“By facilitating MSMEs to decarbonize their power consumption in a sustainable manner, India can achieve a twin objective of greening the economy and uplifting MSMEs to become highly competitive by reducing its power costs,” he added.
To become self-reliant MSMEs have to take the power security considerations for the production with reduced cost. With the use of rooftop solar, they can reduce the operational cost & contribute to the “Aatmanirbhar” initiative of India.
