Under the smart cities scheme mission programme, Trichy Corporation has finally completed the rooftop solar power generation project. This project was delayed and was very much awaited to be finished.

In this Solar Project, 190 buildings of Trichy Corporation will be delivered the power generated by the photovoltaic panels. This will help the corporation curb INR 58 lakh annually on electricity.

The building given power includes the central bus stand, offices, primary health centres, Anganwadi centres and sanitary complexes.

The project includes a mixture of monocrystalline and polycrystalline panels to generate green energy fixed at 206 buildings of the corporation.

The largest facility will generate a peak capacity of 118kWh empanelled at the main office of Trichy Corporation. Alongside, the 65 Anganwadi and community washrooms each have an instalment to generate 1kWh power.

These panels/solar setups are grid-tied so that the surplus energy can be given to the power grid of Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) with the help of a net metering facility.

The main application for this power will be operating motors in sanitary complexes. Powering lights, fans, air conditioners in the offices. While in the time of operation hours in the night, the conventional power supply can be used.
