On the last day of the COP summit held in the city of Glasgow, United Kingdom. What started as a hope to fight the climate crisis and reverse the damage happened to the earth seems to be dimming.
According to some scientists and environmentalists, the COP26 targets were too weak to stop the disaster. The second draft present had a lot of criticism and campaigners asked the world leaders to be more ambitious to save the planet.

Due to this civil societies and campaigners staged a walkout expressing their displease to the legitimacy and ambitions towards the environmental goals. The amazon rainforest’s condition was also brought up in the summit. In a few recent years due to forest fires and overexploiting of the resources, the rainforest could cross the tipping point. This will cause a permanent loss to the world and the rainforest.
On the other hand, Norway and Costa Rica showed their opposition as the conference do not put a total end to the fossil fuel subsidies.
Due to this the activist have been all over the delegates calling them for pulling one PR announcement after another.
According to Greta Thunberg, “The COP has turned into a PR event, where leaders are giving beautiful speeches and announcing fancy commitments and targets, while behind the curtains governments of the Global North countries are still refusing to take any drastic climate action.”
