The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has clarified that the expansion provided by active agencies due to Covid-19 should never exceed six months, including the five-month extension of the previously provided blank.
The Department said that if user groups see the need for an extension over a period of more than six months, they should make a reference to MNRE for the relevant reasons and supporting documentation. Start-up agencies will not offer such extensions themselves.
In February this year, MNRE issued a notice rejecting applications for an additional five months to install renewable energy projects, saying these extensions would not be offered regularly in the future. Although given the extension of the garment earlier, additional extensions can be provided by the startup agencies only in exceptional cases.
The Department has received requests for an additional five months to implement renewable projects without an extension of five months between March 25, 2020, and August 24, 2020, during the closure of the epidemic.
