Mizoram’s Power Minister Pu R. Lalzirliana inaugurated the state’s first solar power project located at Tlungvel, about 58 kilometres from the capital Aizawl. The solar project commissioned has a peak generation capacity of 2 MW. The construction of the project began in August 2018 with funds provided wholly by the state government. The solar project is spread over five acres and has 5,340 solar modules. The project is expected to generate three million units annually. Another 20 MW solar project is currently under construction at Vankal in Khawzawl District.
