Jaipur: Nokh Solar Park in Jaisalmer with a capacity of 925MW will fetch an investment of Rs.3,300 crore from the government. The government expects to meet the deadline to complete the project by March 2022 despite the challenges posed by the epidemic.
To meet the deadline it is important to get a moderate financial assistance transferred to the park. Last year, the main NTPC and Rajasthan Development Company Ltd (RSDCL) under Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd (RRECL), had signed an agreement.
According to the agreement, the RSDCL will build infrastructure in the solar park and the NTPC will develop solar projects.
“Meeting the Nokh Solar Park deadline is very important. This will help our JV NTPC partner benefit from the energy boost happening in the country. We have set a target of 24,000 megawatts from major projects. The park’s projects will also help us reach a milestone, ”said Subodh Agarwal, chairman and executive director of RRECL.
Solar parks will play a key role in achieving the goals set by the Institute and the national government. Apart from Nokh, two more parks are still under construction. The Rajasthan government has entered into joint ventures with Adani and Essel Infra to establish two parks with a capacity of 1500 MW and 750 MW respectively.
Apart from this, there is a plan to establish two large mega renewable energy parks with a capacity of 5,000 MW. The proposal by the Department of New and Renewable Energy has been approved by the national government and MoUs may be signed soon.
