Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has commissioned 100MW solar project in Uttar Pradesh. The company got 2 solar power projects online, both of 50 MW capacity each. The commissioning of the project was at Prayagraj and Banda.

Despite COVID challenges, TPREL completed the project within agreed timeline. The plant will generate more than 221.26 million units annually on its peak.

A massive amount of 1,59,600 modules are used in the project commissioned at Prayagraj. These installations will help curb 91,137 lakh tonnes of carbon emission every year. On the other hand, 1,67.440 modules are used at Banda site which spreads over 236 acres of land. The combine capacity to curb carbon emission annually is 1,77,037 lakh tonnes of carbon.

Despite the various COVID challenges faced by the industry, TPREL through Tata Power’s EPC arm Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd has successfully completed the project within the timelines due to its excellent project execution experience and capabilities, the statement said.

Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has already been signed between TPREL and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL), Lucknow for these two projects.

The renewable capacity in operation for Tata Power is now 3,055 MW out of which 2,123 MW is solar and 932 MW is wind energy. The total renewable capacity is 4,909 MW including 1,854 MW of renewable projects under various stages of implementation.
